CES Highlights: Samsung Galaxy Note (AT&T), DROID 4 (Verizon), and Galaxy Nexus (Sprint)
We’ve seen product launches and announcements come through left and right at the 2012 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas. It’s an exciting time of year for the tech industry, and if you geek out on gadgets like us, you’re probably watching closely.
Yesterday, you told us on our Facebook page that smartphones were the electronics category you believe will have the most innovative gadgets at CES this year, and that certainly seems to be true. Let’s look at a few of the major standouts we’ve seen in the sea of new smartphones. We’ve talked about the Samsung Galaxy Nexus 4G here before, and we still think it’s one of the most exciting and innovative new smartphones on the market. It’s already available on AmazonWireless for Verizon customers, and is soon to be available to those of you on Sprint, too. Here’s a rundown of the specs on the world’s first smartphone running on Android 4.0 (a.k.a., Ice Cream Sandwich):
3G/4G LTE connectivity
Android 4.0 OS (Ice Cream Sandwich)
1.2 GHz dual-core processor
4.65-inch HD Super AMOLED touchscreen
5-MP camera + Full HD 1080p video record
The Samsung Galaxy Note LTE, which AT&T revealed earlier this week, is another new smartphone to keep an eye on. No availability date has been announced, but you can be sure we’ll have the details on AmazonWireless when it is. With a 5.3-inch 1280×800 HD Super AMOLED touchscreen with 180-degree viewing angle (that’s huge!), 1.5GHz dual-core processor, LTE connectivity, 16GB of built-in storage, 8-megapixel camera on the back, 2-megapixel front-facing camera, and more, we can’t wait to try this one out.
Think you’d like to have the “thinnest and most powerful 4G LTE QWERTY smartphone” out there? Us too. The new Motorola DROID 4 (Verizon) is only half an inch thick but has a dual-core 1.2 GHz processor, 1 GB of RAM, an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera with 1080P video capture, 4.0-inch qHD display, 16 GB storage, and a five-row QWERTY keyboard with edge-lit keys and Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread! How do you think it compares to the DROID 3?
