Vlingo – Virtual Assistant, Free: Vlingo combines fast and accurate voice-to-text technology with superior intelligence. Ask a question in any form, and have the answer read out loud to you immediately. Vlingo can operate completely hands-free too:  you can use your voice to search the Web, make calls, get directions while driving, send text and e-mail messages, and update your Facebook and Twitter accounts. There’s also a handy widget that lets you put the Tap & Speak button directly on your phone’s home screen.


Voice Actions Pro, $1.99: This app functions similarly to Vlingo and Siri. You can schedule appointments in your calendar, send text messages, and call your friends and family, all with simple voice commands. Plus, you can search your phone by voice with commands like “search pictures.”
